Hi Laurette,
You write:
"I know that the PMA may be the first third party credentialing for Pilates , but is likely, not the last."

Very interesting. This is the first I've heard, from someone supporting the exam, that there are other alternatives. Thank you for revealing that!

I am still a bit confused in the reasoning, though, as you seem to be Ok with this, and I wouldn't think this is a good thing. As a fitness professional, you know there are many NCCA certifications from which to choose. I doubt this is what the PMA wants, since, in all these years, none of those certifications have lead to licensure.

Don't you wonder why the PMA took such a strong route towards being "the" standard instead of listening to its longtime members (many now no longer members) on this issue?

Since the PMA did not take the stance of uniting all teachers first, we now have a situation where the PMA might be in competition with other alternatives, as you say. So...doesn't this erode the value of the Exam?

As a longtime teacher, ethically, I could never use the PMA symbol on my literature as a sign of excellence, especially when it is a very low-bar exam that is not yet accredited. I would never want to compete with fellow teachers, or mislead the public.

In my mind, so much more conversation between teachers, not training programs, is needed.
Thanks for your post and for the opportunity to voice my opinion.
