Did Pontius Pilate invent Pilates exercises?

If so why isn't it called Pontius's?
There's a quid on this one so please help me.

Pontius Pilate was a very complex character. It was well known that he hated his first name and often wished to be called Loretta or Stan depending on his mood. This is the reason that he named his exercies Pilates not Pontius. I know a few people who hate their first names and they are both complex characters also….arent you Rupert and Julian!

    I watched the entire dvd series and at no point did they wash their hands. I was sooooo disappointed.
