The potential is there, but it usually takes years before one can turn a profit. It also depends on the area where you live. If you are in a major metropolitin area with several large health organizations in the area, the competition will be a lot greater.

But when they do turn a profit, yes, the potential to earn is a lot greater.

P.T's that own their own practice make alot more money, its a excellent field of Medicine to get into, now that insurance companies pay more for aggressive rehabilitation on a out patient basis owning your own practivce is the way to go.

I have a question about physical therapists and their salary?
My uncle is a PT assistant and he used to work for a PT that makes about 60,000/yr now he works for a PT that owns his own practice with two other PT’s and he makes 200,000/yr. they get a lot of business because they work right next to a hospital and obtain a lot of referrals. Do physical therapists generally make more opening their own practice or are those three men just really lucky?
